Information Collection and Use
Information Collection
CampusTours Inc. is the sole owner of the information collected on CampusTours.com, CampusToursProductions.com and CollegeViewbooks.com.
In general, CampusTours does not collect specific information on individual visitors,
rather the site collects generic information about visitor sessions in order
to study general demographic trends. We use third-party advertising companies to serve ads when you visit our Web site. These companies may use aggregated information (not including your name, address, email address or telephone number) about your visits to this and other Web sites in order to provide advertisements about goods and services of interest to you. If you would like more information about this practice and to know your choices about not having this information used by these companies, click here.
However, visitors who wish to request information from colleges and universities may submit their personal information through the CollegeViewbooks utility in order to receive viewbooks and applications from universities that the students select. In the course of the CollegeViewbooks questionairre, students are asked for the following information, and this information is supplied to the colleges that the student chooses.
Information Collected During CollegeViewbooks Registration
The following fields are collected from visitors who register for CollegeViewbooks: name, address, email, zipcode, age, phone, date of birth, intended college major, type of applicant (freshman or transfer), type of application requested (regular decision, early admission, early action), semester that the student is applying, name of high school, high school city, high school state and the student's current grade level in high school [transfer applicants are required to list the college they are currently attending and their current year in college]. This information is gathered and sent electronically to the institutions the student selects in order to request that admissions information be sent to the students' home. CampusTours Inc. provides this information to the selected college[s] and universitie[s] at the visitor's behest, and is not responsible for the use or misuse of this information by the individual educational institutions to whom the student chooses to transmit their request[s]. In accordance with the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA), CampusTours does not allow students who are under the age of thirteen (13) to register for CollegeViewbooks. Students under thirteen (13) years of age are required to have a parent or guardian complete the CollegeViewbooks form to request viewbooks and applications from colleges.
Recruit Me! Program
As part of the registration process for CollegeViewbooks.com, students are given the option of joining the CampusTours Recruit Me! program in which their personal information (name, address, phone, email, high school, grade level, intended major, year of college application) is shared with selected colleges and universities. CampusTours will share this information only with select universities and educational organizations, and these universities may contact students to attempt to recruit them or obtain further information regarding student status. Students who participate in this service agree to allow their information to be shared with select colleges and universities as a means of increasing their likelihood of gaining entry to a college or university. This service in no way guarantees that students will be recruited, only that their information will be shared with participating institutions.
