Milwaukee School of Engineering, in Milwaukee Wisconsin, has been awarded the CampusTours September 2010 Four Star Tour Award for their tremendous virtual visit experience.
The Milwaukee School of Engineering virtual visit has four main sections - LEARN, LIVE, GROW & SUCCEED - each populated with a video that leads visitors into more granular video experiences. Within these more specific areas, student and faculty commentators also offer their perspectives on how that particular aspect of campus life impacts their lives. This ability to move from a general presentation into content that is increasingly focused around each student's interests and to tie candid student commentary to these granular topics allows each visitor to have an experience that more closely matches their individual interests and questions. Furthermore, this type of presentation creates longer visits from prospective students and parents, with average tour sessions in the ten to twelve minute range!
The Milwaukee School of Engineering Virtual Visit does a tremendous job of integrating student commentary into all aspects of the presentation, allowing students to navigate to a level of the tour or map that they find interesting and then click the Commentary Tab to see what current students have to say about that aspect of the college. This feature is particularly compelling in the campus map, where clicking on the residence halls opens a window with a Commentary Tab filled with student testimonials about dormitory life. Today's students often value these "unrehearsed vignettes" more than the polished videos that they know are designed to make a school seem attractive.
In addition to the Interactive Videos, Topical Videos, Commentary Videos and the slew of content in both the campus and regional interactive maps, MSOE's Virtual Visit also offers search capability and menus for each type of content to give quick access to any item in the experience.
